Best wishes this holiday season! We’re in the tween time now, that is-  between Christmas and New Years. Are you anticipating the year ahead, perhaps reflecting on 2012, and possibly making a list of new year resolutions. Those damn resolutions! I hope I remember them  by January 7th. Actually, I usually keep it realistic and do-able. Aren’t I the practical one!

It’s been a great year for me, and I hope for you. I usually love this time of year, and thought I’d remind myself why just in case I’ve forgotten…

• Getting a chance to spend time with family and friends.
• Sending and receiving greeting cards. I’d like to say I sent some this year, but that would not be true, haha! I tried to send an animated e-card but the site I chose was just not up par, archaic in it’s functionality.  I gave up due to lack of time and frustration. There’s always next year…
• Enjoying holiday decorations. There’s nothing not fun about the festive spirit the twinkle and lights create! Well, I guess you could say the taking down and boxing up is not the most fun… This year I must do the boxing myself. I was grateful that hubby put much of it away last year, but the organization was a bit lacking and I never found a few decorations I was looking for! Darn, he doesn’t do it my way!!
• An excuse to enjoy wonderful holiday treats and great food! I was never a fan of pumpkin or pecan pie, that is until I tried them a few years ago. I even learned to like red velvet and coconut cake… now that was a real stretch for me. Have you noticed how in vogue red velvet has become. Go figure?!
• I love traditional Christmas carols and most all Christmas music. OK, I really can’t sing, but I give it a go anyway.
• Shopping- that would be a yes and a no. Some years, I would go to the mall even if I didn’t have shopping to do just to be in the hustle and bustle of it all. I’m weird that way, and several other ways for that matter. Maybe it’s actually more fun to enjoy shopping when not pressed to find that perfect gift.

• Presents… and their pretty packaging. It’s better to give than receive… really?! Just kidding! I always dream I’ll wrap those presents in the most perfect technique and decorate them in a “Martha Stewart” kind of way. I’m still dreaming, but now know from whom I might get a lesson…
• The nutcracker!
• Christmas trees and seasonal foliage!
• Silly and touching holiday movies!
• And for now, last but not least- why I love the holiday season:  I love cold weather. Yes, I really do.  Some might laugh at me calling our central VA weather “cold” but it’s all we’ve got, haha!
